Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is an impairment in social and communication skills, and restricted and repetitive behavior. The prevalence of ASD has increased from 1 in 88 in 2012 to 1 in 68 in 2014. Children and youth with ASD need early intervention to improve their social, communication, and behavior skills.

ABA is a one-to-one approach used to teach skills in a planned, controlled, and systematic manner in small repeated steps. ABA is used to improve social and communication skills, behaviors skills, academic knowledge, play skills, motor skills, and self-help skills to a meaningful degree (Alberto &Troutman, 2009).

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an effective intervention for children with ASD that requires communication and respectful interactions among all stakeholders. Research indicates that EBP is the key to achieve the best outcomes for children with ASD (National Autism Center, 2009).
