KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Dr. Shatnawi is a faculty member at the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Jordan. Also serves as a technical advisor to some Jordanian governmental agencies and Ministries, research institutions, and a technical consultant to local and international consulting firms in Jordan and abroad in the area of structural engineering, earthquake engineering, and structural rehabilitation. Dr. Shatnawi is experienced in collaborating and working in technical review for many related design codes, standards and technical specifications at the Ministry of Public-Works and Housing and the Royal Scientific Society in Jordan. Lately, Dr. Shatnawi finalized an assigned task by Ministry of Public Works and Housing at Jordan to prepare the Reinforced Concrete Structures Code and Earthquake-Resistant Building Code for Jordan. Besides, he has been assigned as expertise in Evaluation and retrofitting of structure by UNDP and Royal Scientific Society in Jordan.
Dr. Shatnawi gained a wide international experience in the area of engineering profession, education, quality assurance with management and planning for enhancement and assessment of civil engineering programs in the Arab Region through certified training held by UNDP for 6 Months. Dr. Shatnawi is selected by UNESCO project to be one of the founders of an Arab Society for Engineering Education and Quality Assurance at Beirut-Lebanon. As a certified Engineering Program Peer Reviewer and Academic Subject Reviewer by UNDP and Quality Assurance Agency, QAA on Enhancement of Quality Assurance and Industrial Planning for engineering programs, Dr. Shatnawi had participated in evaluation and assessment of many engineering programs in different Universities as Helwan University at Egypt, Helebo University at Syria, and Self-Assessment Program at The University of Jordan.
Dr. Shatnawi developed a national and international reputation in his area; he participated in more than 40 international technical meetings in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. He published more than 25 publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings and technical reports. Dr. Shatnawi is a reviewer for several International Refereed Scientific Journals.
Expert and well-developed skills in civil engineering professional and educational programs, who specialized in dealing with complex problems and emerge with credible solutions for structural behavior, structural design, dynamics of structures and International specifications and contracting documents. His particular areas of interest are Structural Analysis and Design by utilizing International related Codes of Practice and International Specifications, Structural and Computational Mechanics, Applied and Solid Mechanics, Earthquake Engineering, and Finite Element Modeling.
He has provided comprehensive services to local and public community through providing many training courses, planning and implementation in a project for enhancement of Quality Assurance and Institutional Planning at Arab Universities, and feasibility study for new founded branch of The University of Jordan at Aqaba, and extensive participation in technical teams with different governmental and non-governmental organizations in Jordan.
Also, as an associate professor of structural engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Jordan he was an acting director for the Engineering Projects Department at the University of Jordan, and director and project manager for the project of new branch of the University of Jordan at Aqaba where a huge and several project were managed by him. He was the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering Department, and the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at Faculty of Engineering at UoJ.
